AKE Safety Equipment Helps out Local Boy Scouts

Gamehaven Council Boy Scout Sporting Shoot

AKE Safety Equipment recently participated in a fund raising event for the Boy Scouts of America at the Gamehaven Scout Reservation. The 19th Annual Jim Killen Boy Scout Sporting Shoot, held in September, had over 140 participants in the Boy Scouts fundraising event. The event, sponsored by Jim and Katie Killen, had a target shooting course, silent auction, live auction, and a raffle. Teams of 5 were sent out on the Killen Trail to shoot at 20 different shooting stations. The participants were required to hit clay pigeons or clay targets either in the air or on the ground.  The event, the third largest yearly fundraiser for the Boy Scouts, raised over $17,000. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s event!

AKE Safety Equipment is a proud supporter of Boy Scouts of America. AKE Safety Equipment’s Founder and CEO, Allen Kronebusch, is the President of the Gamehaven Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  The Gamehaven Council serves the youth of Dodge, Fillmore, Goodhue, Olmsted, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona counties in Southeastern Minnesota. The organization follows the Boy Scouts mantra of being committed to “preparing youth to succeed by teaching life and leadership skills.” The Boy Scouts achieve these goals by having fun outdoor programs, teaching leadership skills, and building character through personal fitness and citizenship. The programming and events for Boy Scouts are made possible through the public’s generosity and the dedication of hundreds of volunteers. The Gamehaven Council Boy Scouts has events throughout the year from camping to training to community service.

Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910 with the belief that helping youth is the key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society. Just in 2013, 2.6 million youth and 1 million volunteers participated in Boy Scouts of America community projects. These projects include food collection and distribution, litter clean-up and community beautification, conservation projects, and fun walks/rides/bike events. The organization has tracked over 17 million service hours in 2013. The Boy Scouts of America has different programs depending on your age and interests.  Cub Scouts are for boys age 7-10, Boy Scouts are for boys age 11-17, and Venturers and Sea Scouts are for young men and women from the ages of 14-20.  There are Scouting organizations throughout the country and the world.
