The STOP-FYRE® Cotton Automatic has a fusible link on the head and a stainless steel braided hose that carries the STOP-FYRE® agent to the three fusible plugs on the ends. Both the plugs and the links are temperature sensitive and will melt when they reach a predetermined temperature. When they melt, the automatic will release the agent to extinguish the fire. Each unit also comes with its own manual release pull cable.

The Cotton Automatic System includes two Cotton Automatic fire extinguishers, a Classic Automatic fire extinguisher for the baler, and one Audio Visual Warning System.

STOP-FYRE®automatics are heat-sensitive fire suppression units that automatically deploy the STOP-FYRE® agent to extinguish fires. You no longer have to be present to put a fire out. And, the automatic can catch fires before they get out of control.

One of my workers was running our CS 690 Cotton stripper. We aren’t sure how the fire started but we think it was from some taller stalks in the roll units and these caused it to catch fire behind the platform of the machine. Fortunately, we have a fire suppression system and two handhelds in the cab. When we used STOP-FYRE® it was like a blanket that put the fire out immediately until we could call the fire department. We were very fortunate, all we had to do was do a few paint touch ups since nothing was really burnt. Without STOP-FYRE® we wouldn’t have been able to keep the fire under control and we could have lost our machine.

On a cotton harvester, the cotton goes through a series of different equipment that helps clean the cotton before it goes into a module. It uses a lot of air and small sharp saws that remove leaves and cotton burrs from the cotton. With this comes threat of getting a rock or piece of wood wedged in the machines which can spark or start the cotton on fire. With the STOP-FYRE® extinguishing system on my machine, once I saw the fire, I turned off the air flow, jumped out, and activated the STOP-FYRE® extinguishers. Within a couple of seconds, the fire that was burning and flaming was out. STOP-FYRE® worked great for me. It put out the fire on my cotton stripper in just a couple of seconds. When the cotton harvester machine costs upward of $650,000, there has to be some kind of extinguisher system on it. STOP-FYRE® did its job!! It worked great and saved my machine. No one ever wants to get a fire, but it happens. I was glad I had the STOP-FYRE® system.
